What's in a name....

For two weeks, we have been thinking of names for our sweet little one.  We wanted to find a gender neutral one, but also hoped that we'd be able to find out the sex of the baby today, and be more specific.  But, in light of our still uncertain situation, we are sticking with our original choice for a first name and then after knowing for sure, we will use the appropriate choice of the middle names we have selected.

Typically, we use family names, but this time we wanted the names to have a different slant.  Our names are based more on Biblical meaning, rather than just what we think is super cute. The names of our other kids were meant to honor certain individuals.  These names are meant to honor the Lord and the sweet way He has lead us through this journey.

So, drumroll please......our baby's first name is Elijah.  This is the first name Kyle mentioned to me after we learned of our baby's condition.  While it is typically more for a boy, we have seen it for a girl.  In Hebrew, its meaning is "my God is Jehovah."  (Jehovah means The Lord, "I am that I am," or eternal....it is the name that God used to reveal Himself to the ancient Hebrews)  For anyone who might not know, Elijah was one of the greatest prophets in the Old Testament.  He prophesied during the reign of Ahab, and once the Lord saw that his work was complete on this earth, He took him straight to Heaven, in a chariot of fire. As I'm not a well-versed Biblical scholar, I hope I've not completely botched this information. :)

If it turns out that Elijah is a boy, his middle name will be Corban.  In the Hebrew, Corban means "gift, an offering consecrated to God."

If the baby is indeed a girl, her middle name will be Faith.  It is no secret that our faith has been tested, but it is also this faith alone that holds us up.

We are so excited that we have settled on names and can share them with you.
